Hi, I am Mariia Sokor.
I grew up in a suburb of Kyiv, Ukraine where I developed a passion for all aspects of food: from growing it to eating. I had a garden, where I experimented growing different fruits and vegetables.
Currently I live in Philadelphia where I have a studio, however I find myself working all over the Mid-Atlantic region. Wherever you are, if you have an interesting project, I would like to work on it.
I began photographing food in 2016 and haven’t looked back. To me it is a nice blend of finding creative artistic angles and constant learning how to improve my craft. I have a vast visual-arts background, including a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Ukrainian National Academy of Arts. I believe my background in fine arts helps me to come up with out of the box solutions.
You'll find me here, seeking every opportunity to dive into the culinary world and shoot it from every angle. Cooking has always been a creative outlet for me. To bring these two worlds together is exciting and I truly love what I do.
